Barbara L. (Bradley) Smith, age 59, of Buckner, IL, formerly of Benton, IL, passed peacefully at 5:14 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in the Good Samaritan Health Care Center of Mount Vernon, IL. She was born in Gary, IN on Saturday, January 26, 1957, the daughter of Elbert and Ruth (Ross) Bradley. Barbara was united in marriage to George Allan Smith on Monday, September 12, 1983 in Benton and together they have shared nearly 33 years of marriage. Her working career was as a certified nursing assistant at Frankfort Healthcare in West Frankfort, IL. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time outdoors; especially in her yard, gardening, planting flowers, taking care of her roses and spending time with her pet and companion Reese. She also had received her CDL License and enjoyed over the road trucking and seeing the country. She loved her family and enjoyed the many times they shared together. The memories that were created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her husband, George Allan Smith of Buckner; mother, Ruth Bradley of Christopher, IL; daughter, Terra Towell of Thompsonville, IL; grandson, Mason Towell of Thompsonville, IL; three sisters, Pam Mayer, Joyce Saddler and Kathy Berkler; two brothers, Robert and John Bradley, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Arrangements for Barbara L. (Bradley) Smith were entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL. The graveside service was at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, in the Jones Cemetery, located east of Logan IL off of IL State Route 34 on Baseline Road, with Rev. Barry Nichols presiding. Those attending the graveside service gathered at the cemetery prior to 1:00 p.m. Prelude and postlude presented at the graveside were recorded “Piano Concerto #2 in B Flat Major” and “Symphony #6 in F Major” both by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Recorded musical selections presented were “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, “I Do (Cherish You)” by Mark Wills and “I’m Already There” by Lonestar. Interment followed the service in Jones Cemetery, where many of her family members are already interred. Pallbearers were Andrew Bradley, Lewis Smith, Robert Bradley, Jim Rotramel and Todd Russell.
