Corky Broskie, Jr., age 40, of West Frankfort, IL, went to be with his mother and grandmother in Heaven, at 7:57 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, in Leesburg, FL. He was born on Sunday, August 19, 1979, in Carbondale, IL, the son of Carl David Broskie, Sr. and Cynthia Louise (Sawyer) Broskie. Corky attended school in West Frankfort, and was a graduate of West Frankfort High School Class of 1998. He continued his education attending at John A. Logan College of Carterville, IL, where he received his Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems. He was a member of Cedar Hill Community Chapel Church, located east of West Frankfort. Corky was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and Orlando Magic Basketball fan. He always wanted to be outdoors and enjoyed bon fires and sitting by the lake. He was a very independent person and was seen all over the town in his wheelchair going on errands. Nothing would hold him back. He enjoyed being around his family and many friends. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his father, Carl D. Broskie, Sr. of West Frankfort; sister, Heather Clark and her fiancé, Kevin Serpa of Lady Lake, FL; brother, Timothy S. Broskie of West Frankfort; two nieces, Jessy Clark of Lady Lake, FL and Madeline and her husband Dalton Rotramel of Benton, IL; great niece, Sophie Burns, who was the apple of Corky’s eye, of Lady Lake, FL; two great nephews, Noah Rotramel and Nolan Rotramel both of Benton, IL; lifelong best friend, Dan Odam and his wife, Michelle of West Frankfort; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; paternal grandparents, Robert and Violet Broskie and maternal grandparents, Henry and Jacqueline Sawyer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 E. Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL. DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE ILLINOIS GOVERNOR, it is recommended funeral homes adhere to limit public gatherings within the funeral home. It is recommended if you are planning on attending the visitation or service please wear a mask and social distance yourself from others. The time of visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020. Following the time of visitation, the funeral service will at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Andy Easton presiding. Entombment will be in East Fork Cemetery located east of West Frankfort. For those who prefer memorial contributions may be made to “St. Jude Children’s Hospital”. Memorial contributions envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed to the Stone Funeral Home, 1201 E. Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL 62896.
